DEC 05 - Squadron to enter Pram race
|
|
The squadron is entering a team in the annual
Boxing Day pram race held in Windlesham, Surrey. Being
air cadets the entry has an aeronautical theme - based
on a Red Arrows Hawk. The cadets and staff have
been collecting sponsorship money for the event, and
hope to raise a substantial amount for the Royal Air
Forces Association as well as the official charity of

DEC 05 - Christmas Dinner
|
|
The
squadron celebrated Christmas in style in the mess of
Victory College of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
A total of 65 were present including 38 cadets,
staff, committee and friends of the squadron; all enjoying
the formal military dining experience. The guest
of honour was retired Wing Commander Graham Perry, who
gave a very interesting and entertaining after dinner
speech.

NOV 05 - Ceremony of the Keys
|
|

cadets traveled with three staff and two committee
members to the Tower of London to watch the famous Ceremony
of the Keys. The ceremony, which has happened
every night for seven hundred years, centres around
the locking of the gates of the tower by the Chief Yeoman
Warder.

NOV 05 - Lakeside Poppy Appeal Concert
|
|
Fourteen
cadets attended the annual Poppy Appeal Concert at the
Lakeside Country Club of darts fame. The cadets
collected money for the appeal as well as acting as
ushers to help people to their seats. Not only
did the squadron parade its own banner, but for the
second year a 1075 Sqn cadet also carried the standard
of the local branch of the Royal Artillery Association.
A certificate was presented to the squadron from
the RA Association in recognition of this service.

NOV 05 - CO dines with the Commandants
|
|
The
Squadron Commanding Officer, Flt Lt Partridge, enjoyed
a formal dinner with two of the cadet forces' Commandants.
The CO was invited to a dinner at the Cadet
Training Centre at Frimley Park, by the Commandant
of the Centre, Lt Col Panton. Also present at the dinner was
the Commandant Air Cadets, Air Commodore Harrison, who
was there as the guest speaker. The dinner was
part of the Army Cadets Senior Officers Course.

NOV 05 - Surrey Wing Cross Country
|
|
With
most of the cadets away on the squadron's adventure
training camp at Crowborough, it was left to Cdt Sgt
Twyford and Cdt Brewer to represent the squadron at
the Wing cross-country meet. Cdt Brewer did not
let the squadron down by winning a gold medal in the
senior girls category. This was her third medal,
and second gold, in the cross country competition in
as many years.

NOV 05 - Crowborough Camp
|
|
23
cadets spent the weekend at the Crowborough Training
Camp in East Sussex along with three staff and two RAF
Regiment Cpls. The cadets were split into basic
and senior on the first day with the basic cadets learning
camp craft and map reading, while the seniors learnt
military skills in the field. The second day the
groups were combined with cadets doing bridge building,
leadership/teamwork exercises and the obstacle course.

NOV 05 - Remembrance Sunday
|
|
Again the squadron paraded the at the annual
Remembrance Day parade in Camberley with the largest
number of cadets of the three cadet forces. The
squadron had the honour of laying a wreath on behalf
of the RAF at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
The RAF officer who usually carries out these
duties was unable due to operational reasons, so the Academy Commandant
requested a cadet
from the local air cadet squadron.
Cdt Sgt Twyford performed these duties laying
the wreath at the service in front of around 600 Army
Officer Cadets. The previous day the squadron
sold poppies in Camberley Town Centre in aid of the
Royal British Legion's annual poppy appeal. On
Friday the 11th A/Sgt Parker paraded the squadron banner
at a brief service in Camberley Town Centre for the
two minutes silence at 11 o'clock. |

OCT 05 - JSCSC Shrivenham Visit
|
|
Three
minibus full of cadets, staff and committee from the
squadron visited the Joint Service Command and Staff
College at Shrivenham. Here the cadets were shown
around the College buildings, the tank shed, and dined
in the mess. The cadets were also given a talk
about the role of the college and its history.

OCT 05 - First BTEC awards for 1075
|
|
Five BTEC awards have been gained by cadets
of 1075 squadron. The BTEC 1st Diploma in Public
Services was awarded to I/Cdt FS Tester, I/Cdt Sgt Springett,
Cdt Sgt Stovell, Cdt Sgt Horncastle (now with 2235 Sqn),
and I/Cdt Sgt Ridley. The awards were presented
by the Mayor of Surrey Heath, Cllr Stevenson at a brief
ceremony at the squadron HQ.

OCT 05 - CO gets GCGI
|
|
The squadron's commanding officer, Flt Lt
Partridge, has become one of the first people to be
awarded the new Graduateship of the City & Guilds
Institute in Youth Management and Training. He
attended the inaugural graduation ceremony at the Cadet
Training Centre, Frimley Park where he was presented
with his award by the Duke of Westminster.  |

OCT 05 - CO gets his 'Wings'
|
|
The
squadron commanding officer has become one of the first
ATC instructors to complete the Dutch Military parachute

OCT 05 - Squadron D of E Camp
|
|
Three
cadets have now completed the expedition section of
their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award after a
squadron expedition in the countryside between Farnham
and Bordon. 11 other cadets successfully completed
their practice expedition.

OCT 05 - L&SE Region Swimming Competition
|
|
Cadet Hastings added to his medal collection
at the regional swimming competition where he represented
Surrey Wing. He won silver in the junior boys
butterfly and another silver as part of the Wing medley
relay team. |

SEP 05 - Battle of Britain Parade
|
|
Cadets and staff from 1075 squadron attended
the annual Battle of Britain Parade at Brookwood Cemetery.
The cadets remembered those that lost their lives during
the battle by covering off on the graves and saluting.
The cadets then paraded past the RAF shelter with
veterans and their standards. The previous day
many of the same cadets helped to collect money for
the Royal Air Force Association's Wings appeal in Camberley
Town Centre.

SEP 05 - Surrey Wing Swimming Competition
|
|
1075 squadron had a successful evening at
the annual wing swimming competition finishing second
overall in the junior boys category and joint third
in the senior boys category. There was also individual
silver medals for Cadets Hastings and Clarke. |

JUL 05 - National Navigation Award Scheme
|
|
With
the squadron Commanding Officer, Flt Lt Partridge, gaining his BELA
(Basic Expedition Leader Award) qualification the squadron
has successfully applied to become an awarding body
for the National Navigation Award Scheme for the Bronze
and Silver awards. More details of the scheme

The squadron held its annual formal inspection

APR 05 - Hockey Tournament
|
|
Cadets
from 1075 squadron were joined by cadets from 11F, 66
and 1349 squadrons for a Hockey Tournament in the grounds
of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. The Tournament
was organised by two cadets from 1075 squadron as part

MAR 05 - Adult Sergeant
|
|
Civilian Instructor James Parker has been
appointed as an Adult Sergeant at the squadron. He
becomes the first person to gain the rank at 1075 squadron
since its introduction as part of the 2003 LASER review. |

FEB 05 - Chinook Flight
|
|
Twenty cadets from the squadron started their
half term on a high note with a flight in a RAF Chinook
Helicopter. The helicopter was part of the display
for the Helicopter Half Term event at the RAF Museum

JAN 05 - Bronze D of Es
|
|
Five cadets
from the squadron has successfully completed their bronze
Duke of Edinburgh's Award. They are Cdt Sgt Springett,
Cdt Sgt Hoare, Cdt Cpl Burton, Cdt Cpl Twyford, Cdt
Cpl Horncastle. These cadets will now start working
towards their Silver D of E award.

JAN 05 - Cross Country Region Blue
|
|
Cdt Brewer has gained a second
Cross Country Region Blue in a row after representing
L&SE Region at the Corps championships at RAF Cranwell.
She finished 9th overall in her age group, again
for the second year in a row.

JAN 05 - Squadron AGM
|
|
The squadron held its Annual General
Meeting on Monday 17th January, with both cadets and
parents in attendance. Mr Martin Horncastle was
re-elected as Chairman as was Mrs Sue Hoare as Secretary
and Mrs Deb Loveland as Treasurer. A new post
of Vice-Chairman was established with Mr Alan Loveland
being elected to the post.
