Nov 07 - Lord Lieutenant's Cadet

Cdt
Sgt P Loveland has been appointed as the Lord Lieutenant's
Cadet for Surrey for the next year. He was presented
this award by the Lord Lieutenant of Surrey, Mrs Sarah
Goad, at a ceremony at the TA Centre in Farnham with
other cadet and TA awards.

Nov 07 - The Squadronaires
|
|
The Sqn paraded at the
Camberley Theatre where the RAF Squadronaires were peforming. The event was organised to raise money for
The Royal Star & Garter Homes.
The cadets provided a Guard of Honour for all the guests
at the entrance to the theatre while others issued programmes and acted as
escorts. The staff and cadets were allowed to watch the entire performance of
swing and big band music, and some also managed to get a trip back stage and
have their picture taken on stage with the musicians during the
interval.

Oct 07 - DofE exped to Dorset
|
|
For
a second year in a row the Squadron went away to the
Isle of Purbeck in Dorset to carry out a Duke of Edinburgh's
Award expedition. This included both cadets doing
their final actual expedition and those on their practice.

Sep 07 - Surrey Wing review
|
|
This
year Surrey Wing was reviewed by the Commandant Air
Cadets, Air Commodore G Moulds. A parade was held
at the former Battle of Britain fighter base of RAF
Kenley, where CWO Stovell was presented the Wing Pennant
on behalf of the Sqn for the Best Sqn in the Wing. Cdt
Cpl Stovell was also presented with her BTEC award.
After the parade the cadets took part in a number
of activities including gliding, climbing and even a
coach pull.

Jul 07 - Summer Ball
|
|
This
year the Squadron held its first Summer Ball in the
function room of the NAAFI Club at the Royal Engineers'
Gibraltar Barracks. The cadets, staff and guests
dressed up in their finest clothes - cocktail dresses
for the girls and black bow ties for the boys, and danced
the night away. As usual the disco was provided

Jul 07 - Annual Inspection
|
|
The
Squadron provided another good display in front of the
cadets family and friends and local VIPs at the Squadron's
Annual Inspection, held at New College in the Royal
Military Academy Sandhurst. This year's Reviewing
Officer was Lt Col Duncan - OC Sandhurst Support Unit.
He inspected the cadets, who later marched past
as the heavens opened in a brief but heavy summer shower.
The cadets also put on several dynamic displays
to show to the guests the sort of activities and training
that the ATC provides. The day ended with the

Jun 07 - Air Training Corps National Athletics Meet
|
|
Cdt
Bushell became the first cadet from 1075 Squadron in
many years to win a medal at the ATC national athletics
meet at RAF Cosford. Whilst representing London
& South East Region he won bronze medals in the
100 m, 200 m and the 4 x 100 m relay. This is
even more impressive considering that he only joined
the Air Cadets in February this year.

Jun 07 - London & SE Region Athletics
|
|
After
the success of at the Wing Athletics meet Cdt
Bushell, Cdt Cpl Pace and Cdt Cpl Koulouris were selected
to represent Surrey Wing at the Regional event. Cdt
Bushell repeated his success at the Wing competition
by winning two gold medals for the 100 m and 200 m.
Cdt Cpl Pace was also in the medal count, winning
a silver in the intermediate boys shot put.

Jun 07 - Top Flight Presentation
|
|
Tony
Hirons from CHQ RAFA came down to the Squadron to present
the prize for the winners of the London &
South East Regional prize of the RAFA Top Flight
competition. He presented a framed picture of
the Red Arrows and a cheque for £100 for the squadron's
entry - the Wheel for wings challenge.

Jun 07 - New Civilian Instructor
|
|
1075
Sqn has gained a new member of staff as former CWO Tester
has been appointed as a Civilian Instructor. He
also gained his commercial pilot's licence after successfully
completing a course with Cabair. He will now assist
in instructing cadets in aviation subjects.

May 07 - Surrey Wing Athletics
|
|
1075 walked away from the annual Wing Athletics
meet with six medals, including three gold. Cdt
Bushell won two golds (100 m and 200 m junior boys)
and one silver (long jump) at his first wing athletics.
Cdt Cpl Pace won gold in the senior boys javelin
and silver in the 200 m, with Cdt Cpl Koulouris winning
silver in the senior boys long jump.

Apr 07 - Lees Trophy Insepction
|
|
On
the 20th April the Sqn was inspected by the Regional
Commandant Group Captain Hakin in the London & SE
regional competition for the Regional representative
in the Lees Trophy (the awards for the best Sqn in the
ATC). The cadets were inspected formed up on the
Sqn parade square, after the Group Captain had been
introduced to the Civilian Committee and Sqn staff.
He was then given a tour of the Sqn HQ taking
in lessons on First Aid, BTEC, Airmanship, map reading,
projects, radio and rope work. Unfortunately the
Sqn was not successful this year, being beaten to the
top spot by Biggin Hill Squadron.

Mar 07 - Frimley Park Fun Run
|
|
Cadets
from 1075 Sqn gave their help to the organisers of the
Frimley Park Fun Run around Frimley Park Hospital. They
help to set up the finish line, marshall the competitors,
give out drinks and present medals to the finishers.

Mar 07 - Duke of Edinburgh's Award Evening
|
|
Five
cadets attended the Surrey Heath Duke of Edinburgh's
Award presentation evening in the Camberley Theatre.
Here they were presented with their Bronze awards
by the Mayor of Surrey Heath, Cllr Keith Bush. Cdt
Cpl P Loveland also gave a presentation on how the DofE
award scheme works in the ATC to the 250 guests
in the theatre.

Feb 07 - Lees Trophy
|
|
After
an inspection from Officer Commanding Surrey Wing, Wing
Commander Gould RAFVR(T), 1075 Squadron have been selected
as Surrey Wing's representative in the Lees Trophy competition.
This is the competition for the best ATC Squadron
in the country. The Squadron will now be preparing
for the inspection of the Regional Commandant, Group
Captain Hakin.

Feb 07 - Dacre Sword
|
|
Cadet
Corporal P Loveland has been selected as both the Squadron
and Wing representative for the national Dacre Sword
competition, for the top male cadet in the ATC. He
now goes up against representatives from other wings
in L&SE Region to find the Regional Winner.

Feb 07 - Top Flight Competition Results
|
|
The
results of the latest RAFA Top Flight competition have
now been anounced with the Squadron's entry (the Wheel
for Wings Challenge) coming top in London & South
East Region for the second year running. Unfortuneately,
it wasn't good enough to win the overall prize - the
trip to Cyprus. Better luck next year.

Jan 07 - Promotion
|
|
Mrs
L Baxendale has now joined the ranks of the uniformed
staff having successfully gained a commission in the
RAFVR(T). Her new role as a Pilot Officer will be that
of Training Officer, overseeing all training matters
on the Squadron.
